4.) Mr. Padre, Tony Gwynn
The greatest left-handed hitter of our generation. The rarest form of a professional athlete that would treat you like a lifelong friend, even if you have never met him before. One who put his family before himself. Gwynn was the ultimate athlete, and one I am very grateful to have been scouted by as a high school baseball player.
The San Diego Padres wouldn’t be what we are today without Tony. The statue that will forever be standing at Petco gives off all the memories of a Padre fan, such as watching him hit the 5.5 hole. There will never be another one anywhere close to him, and we all just wish he could have been here for this past season.
We will always miss you, are all thankful to have seen you play, and are all thankful to call you Mr. Padre.
