Report: Dodgers have “healthy interest” in Jordan Zimmermann

The rumors surrounding free agent right-handed pitcher Jordan Zimmermann are starting to heat up, with the Detroit Tigers reportedly in serious talks to sign him, as written here.

Another team that is in on Zimmermann is the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have expressed “healthy interest” in the Wisconsin native, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

It’s no surprise to hear that the Dodgers are in on Zimmermann, given how Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported earlier this month that he was a top target for them in free agency.

In addition to Zimmermann, the Dodgers are also said to be in on David Price and Zack Greinke. However, Zimmermann would be the only one that would cost the team a draft pick if they did in fact sign him.

If Zimmermann signs with the Tigers, it’s possible the Dodgers step up their pursuits of Greinke, Price or another top-tier starting pitcher such as Johnny Cueto.

With the winter meetings now a little more than a week away, the rumor mill appears to be heating up. In terms of news and rumors, it should only get busier and crazier from here.

Greinke should be priority #1. Not Zimmerman, Price, Cueto, etc
