Report: Red Sox reach agreement with OF Chris Young

It was announced Monday morning that the Red Sox had come to terms with former Yankee outfielder Chris Young on a multi-year contract.

The right hander hit .252/.320/.453 last season with 14 home runs and 42 RBI. He provides good depth behind Rusney Castillo and Jackie Bradley Jr. and also makes one of them expendable for the Red Sox to trade for a position of need. Considering they also have the versatile Brock Holt, and speedy Mookie Betts and it’s almost certain the Red Sox are attempting to make a deal somewhere else.

On top of this, Chris Young also is a dead pull hitter, a quality that will fit in well at Fenway Park. He also terrorizes left handed pitching which makes him a great platoon player.

It’s a low risk, high reward deal for the Red Sox with a very high chance of paying dividends in the end.
