Prediction: St. Louis Cardinals. Ten years, $200 million.
Heyward is only 26 years old, so the ten years at $20 million a season should not be an issue. It will be interesting to see if any teams surpass this number, but Heyward loved playing in St. Louis, and it’s a place where many hitters have been rejuvenated. The Cardinals also gave up Shelby Miller for Heyward, and St. Louis historically likes to keep players they acquire via trade. One of the best outfielders in baseball, Heyward should be in St. Louis for another decade.
