6. Johnny Cueto
Prediction: Boston Red Sox. Five years, $120 million.
Cueto may get one or two more years on his deal, but as I pointed out earlier, he’s a perfect fit for the Red Sox. Boston desperately needs an ace to anchor their rotation, and no matter how much money owner John Henry has, it may not be too wise to dish out another contract worth over five years, and especially not $30 million per year (which would be the cost to sign Price), after signing Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez last off-season. Cueto is a cheaper solution, and I believe this five-year, $120 million deal is what he is worth, and would be worth it for a team in need of a top line starter.
