With Houston being at the forefront of the United States Space Program, Astros was the perfect moniker. With it came the Astrodome, and after a few years of dead grass, the invention of AstroTurf. It was a revolutionary time.

From 1965-1970, the Astros employed a navy blue base to the hat and the word script logo on the jersey. While the home jersey had the “Astros” wordmark with the starburst above it, the road jersey was a simple “Houston” wordmark.

From 1971-1974, the Astros had similar wordmarks on both the home and the away jersey but instead employed orange as their base color. This also included a new orange hat.

On the left sleeve of both sets was the Houston “Astrodome” logo.
