The 1980’s saw a gradual departure from the previous decade. The team was no longer a perennial AL Pennant contender, rebuilding from the penny pinching Finley days. These uniforms slowly went away from the A’s and began embracing their Oakland home.

From 1981 to 1984, those were the last days of the “A’s” jersey tops. They still had the v-neck in green and white. Though making a return was a button down “A’s” jersey in white.

Joining the rotation of jersey tops were v-neck pullovers with “Oakland” in an arched block letter script. Those came in white, gray, green and yellow. By 1985, the Athletics were only donning “Oakland” jerseys.

There was no change to the Athletics hat.
