3.) Jason Heyward
There was a great deal of speculation entering the Winter Meetings over the real value of a player like Jason Heyward — a solid all-around outfielder who does not yet hit for power. Well, all those questions appear to have been answered. Heyward reportedly has a $200 million offer on the table, the exact number that was bandied about all year regarding his free agency.
The Washington Nationals have emerged as a surprise team, and could be the ones to have plopped down the big offer. The Cubs could be that team as well, trying their hardest to keep Heyward away from the St. Louis Cardinals. Both Chicago and Washington would present Heyward an opportunity to begin unleashing the power in his 6’5″ frame. That would surely put all those anti-WAR folks in their place!
