Detroit Tigers: A new car
First-year GM Al Avila has addressed just about all of the Tigers’ needs so far this offseason. He signed Jordan Zimmermann and Mike Pelfrey to bolster the rotation, acquired Cameron Maybin to help in the outfield, and improved the bullpen with Francisco Rodriguez, Mark Lowe, and Justin Wilson.
After four consecutive American League Central titles from 2011-2014, the 2015 Tigers had an unprecedented last place finish. The team appears to be in a position to put together a much better 2016 campaign, especially if another outfielder is acquired. Could a Yoenis Cespedes reunion be in store?
The Motor City could certainly use a new set of wheels as the Tigers look to rebound from a miserable 2015 season. With Avila filling in the holes, the on-field product is looking pretty solid. All that’s left is a slick ride and some fresh tires. If Miguel Cabrera can stay healthy, this team will be in good shape.
Stocking Stuffers: baggier pants for Justin Verlander and a box of Frosted Flakes for the mascot.
