The Houston Astros are a very talented team. After nearly knocking out the powerhouse Toronto Blue Jays in last year’s ALDS, the Astros look poised to return to the postseason very soon.

Jose Altuve, George Springer, and 2015 AL Rookie of the Year Carlos Correa lead a potent offense while youngsters Lance McCullers, Collin McHugh, and 2015 AL Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel anchor a dominant starting rotation. The addition of Ken Giles gives them the closer they needed. The only thing missing is a standout first baseman.

After non-tendering Chris Carter, the ‘Stros are left with a hole at first base. Jon Singleton, once a top prospect, has failed miserably in his big league time thus far and does not appear to be the answer. Slugger Chris Davis would be a perfect fit to take over the first baseman duties if the Astros are willing to open up their wallets.

As an Orioles fan, the thought of “Crush” wearing anything other than orange and black makes me cringe. As a baseball fan, I love the idea of Davis in the middle of that Astros lineup. The Houston faithful would certainly agree.

Stocking Stuffers: a really big top hat for Altuve, a new mop for Evan Gattis, and a brand new big wheel scooter for little Carlos Correa.
