Atlanta Braves: A time machine
It seems like not long ago that the Braves reigned for fourteen consecutive seasons (1991-2005, excluding the strike-shortened 1994 season) as the champions of the National League East. Highlighted by outstanding players such as Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, and Chipper Jones, manager Bobby Cox’s Braves were a nearly unstoppable force.
As we now approach the 2016 season, the Braves are in shambles. Their 67 wins in 2015 were the franchise’s fewest since 1990. Rebuilding has become the theme in Atlanta, as shown by recent trades of Andrelton Simmons and Shelby Miller.
Could the Braves somehow travel back in time and relive the glory years of the 1990s, they would in a heartbeat. It looks like it’s going to be a few more years until the Braves are competitive again.
If anybody can turn time travel into a reality, it’s Santa Claus.
