Classic Threads: Kansas City Athletics

Temporary Changes: 1961-1962

For the next two seasons the Athletics had two different uniform sets.

The 1961 uniforms really toned down the depth of the team. The home whites went to a blue pinstripe with the “A” in blue with red trim on the chest. The player number was added to the left sleeve in same blue with red trim as the back. The road uniforms were a plain gray with “Kansas City” in a blue cursive script. A blue player number was also added to the sleeve.

The 1962 uniforms went to the tank top styled vest. The home tank had the new “Athletics” script in a red with blue trim. The road tank was in a blue with red trim. The team also used either the red or blue undershirts. The vest had large players numbers on the back.

For the 1961 season, the hat went all navy with a new (and improved) white “KC” logo. The color palate deepened in 1962. The main hats were blue with a red bill while an alternate white with red bill and blue “KC” was added.
