The Red Sox are probably not looking to make a run at Jose Fernandez. With the addition of David Price this winter they have made a huge splash and are probably not looking to make another huge move. Though the thought of adding Fernandez to a rotation with Price might be very tempting.

The Red Sox do have the young talent and prospects to get a deal done if they chose. Yoan Moncada alone would be enticing to the Marlins. The Cuban phenom would be a great marketing tool for the Marlins. However Fernandez is already there and is equal in terms of talent. He is also established.

The Marlins would also have interest in Jackie Bradley Jr or Mookie Betts. Either young outfielder would be nice but the Marlins probably want a bigger package. It would take Moncada, Betts, and young left-hander Henry Owens to get the ball rolling. The Marlins would probably ask for more, and the Red Sox would have a huge decision to make.
