St. Louis Cardinals Top 20 Prospects

2) Jack Flaherty – RHP

Date of Birth: October 15, 1995
Height/Weight: 6′ 4″/205 lbs.

Bats/Throws: Right/Right
Acquired: Drafted in the 1st round (34th overall) in 2014

Flaherty’s big frame is what gives him his athletic motion, which allows him to easily repeat his delivery and have his stuff deeper into games. Already armed with a mid-90s fastball, Flaherty also has very good handles on his changeup and slider, with his curveball being a serviceable fourth pitch if needed. Flaherty pounds the strike zone, and the Cardinals think he can really tap into his potential now that he is focused solely on pitching, having transitioned away from third base. Flaherty performed well at single-A Peoria, and will likely start 2016 at high-A, but could easily make the jump to AA with Weaver if he continues to excel.

Pretty good list. I disagree that Luke Weaver has ace potential. He has a wiry body that calls into question him being a workhorse. Also, serviceable is the highest praise he has gotten on his breaking pitch which bodes better for a mid rotation starter over an ace.
