Where do the best free-agent outfielders fit?

Detroit Tigers

The Tigers have been linked to Cespedes a bit, but they are reportedly “waiting for his price to drop.” They don’t necessarily have a need in left field, but there is room for improvement. J.D. Martinez is slotted in right field, with Cameron Maybin in center. I can see the Tigers going after a mid-tier outfielder, but I don’t see them landing Cespedes or Upton, having already spent $110 million this offseason on SP Jordan Zimmerman.

Best Fit

Dexter Fowler

Fowler is a natural center fielder but could make the transition to left field if necessary. He is a switch hitter and could hit virtually anywhere in the Tigers lineup. By signing Fowler, who has lead off a lot of his career, they could move a guy like Maybin to the bottom of the order, which really strengthens the lineup.
