2. Yadier Molina, Cardinals
Yadier Molina and Buster Posey are really neck and neck. The veteran is consistently one of the best defensive catchers in baseball and it’s gotten to a point where stealing against him just plain won’t work. Over 41 percent of runners were thrown out by the arm of Yadi this past year. On top of that, he’s the heart and soul and the bona fide leader of the Cardinals. When he missed time this past year, the Cardinals almost looked a little lost at times. The power numbers haven’t been there in a while, but the average and OBP are still respectable at .270 and .310. The biggest concern for the Cardinals is that the 33-year-old All-Star is not only beginning to age, but is also struggling with injuries. While he’s still one of the elite catchers in the game, how long that will last is another question.
