Major Additions: B
Jerry Dipoto felt he had a good core group, but had lots of work to do this offseason. Getting Iwakuma back was priority number one for them this offseason and that wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for a bad physical. The outfield is more athletic which was also a priority. Additions like Aoki should boost the team’s on-base percentage. It’s tough to give anyone an ‘A’ grade until you see performance on the field, but I feel Dipoto did an excellent job bringing in guys who should fit SafeCo.

Minor Additions: C
Outside of the major league roster needing several pieces, the farm system has been depleted and prospects haven’t been developing into major league players. Dipoto made several additions to help give some needed depth, but player development will be key to the M’s success in the years to come. It will be fun to watch and see if top prospects like Alex Jackson and D.J. Peterson can take off with the new front office.
