1. Can this Cardinals team hold off the Cubs and repeat as NL Central champs?
The major question facing the Cardinals this coming season will be if they can continue to be kings of their division with the Cubs having upgraded all across the roster and the Pirates still looming as a formidable threat.
Many people are picking the Cubs as division champs in 2016 because they stole Lackey and Heyward from the Cardinals as well, but as we have seen the Cardinals still have the pieces in place to be juggernauts in the division. That’s not to take away from the Cubs, however, as they’ll enter 2016 with pieces of their own like reigning award-winners Jake Arrieta and Kris Bryant and a slew of young talent like Kyle Schwarber and Jorge Soler.
The Cardinals will certainly have their hands full, but with Matt Carpenter, Kolten Wong, Grichuk, Piscotty, Martinez, and Michael Wacha, the Redbirds should be able to hold their own in what promises to be a fierce battle for the NL Central crown.
