2. Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira have to repeat their production

Coming into the 2015 season people actually wondered if the Yankees should eat the rest of A-Rod’s contract and flat out release him. What a difference a year makes. Not only did the Yankees not release him, but A-Rod turned out to be one of the most important bats in their lineup hitting 33 HRs and posting an .842 OPS. It remains to be seen if A-Rod can repeat his 2015 campaign. A-Rod has posted numerous workouts on his social media, so it is clear he is motivated. The Yankees definitely hope his body will hold up for at least one more successful season at the plate.

Mark Teixeira was expected to be a shell of himself heading into the 2015 season. There were serious signs of him slowing down at the plate and the injury bug always seemed to find him. While injuries did end Teixeira’s 2015 season, he still managed to hit 31 HR’s and post a .906 OPS in 111 games. Teixeira needs to stay healthy, especially with his security blanket, Greg Bird, out for the year. If he is healthy he needs to continue to be the hitter he was at the plate last season before he fractured his leg.

A-Rod and Teixeira’s ability to continue to produce at the plate despite being a year older is critical to the Yankees success in 2016.
