Denard Span, San Francisco Giants
Three Years, $31 million
Team option for 2019

The Giants were in need of another outfielder and were linked to all the free agent bats this offseason. After the signings of Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija, their sights were set at the second tier. In comes Span who missed a good part of last season with an injury.

The Nationals didn’t offer him a qualifying offer, so he didn’t have draft pick compensation hanging over his head. While the Giants didn’t get the big bat they had hoped for, they got a good defender and a guy who can get on-base. His contract is back loaded and helps offset some of the salary Cueto and Samardzija will be taking home in 2016.
