Jon Jay:

Jon Jay was acquired in the offseason for struggling second baseman Jedd Gyorko. He missed a significant amount of time last season dealing with a wrist injury. If he bounces back, he is best suited to play center field, but with Melvin Upton Jr.and potentially Travis Jankowski there, Jay would have to shift over to left field. He is an OBP guy, who doesn’t strike out much (15.7% in his career) and walks a fair amount (6.9%). He can play left field in a slightly below average sample, albeit it being only 200+ innings. He would lead off and be a solid piece atop a lineup that desperately needs on-base guys, as the Padres ranked dead-last in that category a year ago.
