Wil Myers:

In reality, this only happens if you bring in a First baseman. That first baseman is Pedro Alvarez. Bold, I know, but he is a left handed bat who can, I say this very lightly, play first base. That moves Wil Myers to LF and gives the Padres a power left handed bat for maybe a year or two. Alvarez could be had for cheap, and would be brought in for offensive reasons only. His defense is putrid having a -26.4 UZR/150 and having a negative 14 in defensive runs saved. His power would play well at Petco, as the right field porch provides left-handers with some insurance on long fly balls, and would essentially, balance out a lineup that is still very right hand power heavy. He also isn’t attached to a draft pick and could be had for a one year deal with an option on year two, if that is the direction Preller plans on going.
