After winning 98 games during the 2015 regular season, the Pittsburgh Pirates playoff hopes were quickly spoiled by Jake Arrieta and the Chicago Cubs in the National League Wild Card one-game playoff.
Usually that many wins is good enough to win a division title, but with a jam-packed National League Central Division, the Pirates fell a few games short of the division crown and were forced to take their chances in the one-game playoff to advance to the NLDS.
