The Pirates have announced that they have invited 20 players to participate in Spring Training as non-roster invitees. These players do not have a guaranteed spot, but will give themselves the opportunity to prove they belong at the big league level.
Here’s a list of the non-roster invitees for this year’s Spring Training:
Out of these players, the club has invited some of their top prospects to partake in Spring Training with the big league club. McGuire (#6), Kuhl (#17), Williams (#20) and Brault (#24) all rank in the team’s top 30 prospect list according to MLB Pipeline, and all these players will have the opportunity to show they are ready to play at the big league level.
Cole Figueroa is another player who can stand out, as he has some big league experience and has the ability to play multiple positions. If the Pirates do need a temporary infielder that could help fill the void until Kang returns, Figueroa could be the best option out of all the non-roster invitees.
