Seattle Mariners Spring Training Preview

Other Things to Watch

The Mariners have a whole new coaching staff including manager, Scott Servais. Servais is one of Dipoto’s good friends and shares a lot of the same ideas when it comes to game management. It will be fun to watch a front office and coaching staff  completely different from the last several seasons.

It will be interesting to see what impact Edgar can have on the hitters after getting a full offseason and spring under his belt with the ball club. The M’s had several young guys attend a hitting summit in Arizona over the winter, teaching the new approach at the plate that includes working the count and getting your pitch as a hitter.

With new leadership in place, the expectations nationally for the M’s aren’t as high as last year. It seems when they aren’t expected to compete for a playoff bid is when they tend to surprise everyone. The journey to end the playoff drought begins in just a few days, settle in, the greatest game on earth is about to start back up.
