On this week’s episode of Backward K, we were joined by Ryan Spaeder and Kevin Reavy, co-authors of “Incredible Baseball Stats: The Coolest, Strangest Stats and Facts in Baseball History,” which is currently available for pre-order on Amazon (link below).

While the focus of this episode was to talk about their book and give them a chance to convince listeners to buy it, we also talked about some specific players whose stats really stand out, such as Tony Gwynn, Greg Maddux, and Barry Bonds. Spaeder, best known on Twitter as “The Ace of Baseball Stats” due to his tweets containing crazy statistics, talked about some of his favorite sabermetric statistics. We also discussed the potential of Tim Raines and Jeff Bagwell entering the Hall of Fame in 2017. Reavy, a Phillies fan, broke down the Mike Schmidt vs. Brooks Robinson debate.

Ryan and Danny recapped some baseball news from the week, such as Mat Latos signing with the Chicago White Sox, Tyler Clippard signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Baltimore Orioles’ continued pursuit of Yovani Gallardo and Dexter Fowler.

Also in this episode: Ryan’s voice crack tally continues to climb, Taylor Swift helps Ryan wish Danny a happy 22nd birthday, Danny falls further behind in the hot dog debate, and much more!
