12. Luis Torrens, C, 19, Signed July 2nd in 2012 out of Venezuela for $1.3 million
Luis Torrens was primarily a shortstop in Venezuela, but the Yankees decided to turn him into a catcher after they signed him in 2012. He is a defense-first catcher, but has the ability to hold his own as a hitter. Torrens development hit a road block when he went down with a torn labrum that forced him to miss the entire 2015 season. Torrens is expected to be ready to go at the start of the 2016. And, despite missing all of 2015, Torrens is still just 19 as he looks to get his development back on track.
