Longtime Mets Publicist Shannon Forde Passes Away At 44

Shannon Forde, Media Relations Senior Director for the New York Mets since 1994, passed away Friday night at the age of 44, after a long battle with breast cancer.

Mets third baseman and captain David Wright made a statement on Forde.

“Shannon was with me my whole career with the Mets,” Wright said. “She helped me so much when I was a rookie. She worked hard to assist my foundation and helped me get acclimated to New York.”

Even though her health wasn’t great, Forde still managed to travel to Kansas City with the team during the World Series last fall.

Forde was hired by the Mets in 1994 after graduating from St. John’s University, making history as one of the first women in baseball public relations. She is survived by her husband John, and two sons, Nicholas and Kendall.

Baseball Essential would like to extend our condolences to the Forde family and Mets organization during this difficult time.
