With Carter Capps almost certain to miss significant time, A.J. Ramos had nothing to worry about regarding his role as the Marlins closer. After an effective season in 2015 when he replaced struggling closer Steve Cishek, Ramos was looking forward to a full season of ninth inning work.
Ramos has not yet appeared in a Grapefruit League game, however, as he is nursing a sore right calf. Ramos says that his arm is fine and that he will be ready to go as soon as his calf feels better. It isn’t a huge concern, but it does put him a little behind in terms of getting ready for the season.
