Byron Buxton: Full Speed Ahead?
Byron Buxton will be given every opportunity to win the starting center field job once the team heads north in early April. After a somewhat inauspicious debut last year, the Twins are looking for Buxton to begin fulfilling his vast potential. Buxton may have been a bit rushed to Minnesota, and he has also dealt with significant injuries each of the past two seasons. This year he arrived in camp healthy with the hopes of nailing down the everyday job roaming center field at Target Field.
He will need to cut down on his strikeouts in order to utilize his immense speed on the base paths, but there is no denying he is a bona fide 5-tool talent. Ideally the Twins would like to bat him at the top of the order and use his skills on the pads to set the table for the power hitters behind him. The future is bright in Minnesota as Buxton and Sano look to be cornerstone offensive pieces for several years to come.
