3) CC Sabathia is a decent 5th starter

One of the biggest storylines for the Yankees in the offseason was the uncertainty surrounding the final slot in their rotation. Ivan Nova and CC Sabathia fought for the spot, with Sabathia ultimately landing the job. Sabathia is declining as a pitcher, and his productivity has drastically gone down. His velocity and movement has diminished over time, but the big left-hander showed that he can pitch effectively in his first start. Over six innings of work, Sabathia allowed three runs on four hits, while striking out three and picking up the win against the Detroit Tigers.
