Detroit Tigers

Record: 1-5

Weekly Recap:

Man. The Motown boys got spanked this week. They dropped two out of three on the road against the reigning AL Central Champions the Kansas City Royals, then came back to Comerica Park and got swept by the Indians. Not only did they lose five out of six this week, they lost five out of six to division opponents. Even in the early season, with how competitive the AL Central is this year, losing games early within the division is not a good way to start.

Stud of the Week: Jordan Zimmermann

He’s no David Price or Zack Greinkebut I don’t think the Tigers are complaining. He’s still pitching strong as he went 6.1 innings against the Kansas City Royals and gave up no runs while fanning eight batters. He’s one of the very few good things going for the Tigers right now, so hopefully he can maintain this consistency as he has yet to surrender a single run so far into the season.

Dud of the Week: Miguel Cabrera

I don’t even know what to say. I actually had to slap myself a few times before I even considered putting this name here. What the hell is going on?! How is this even possible?! I can’t answer that but here’s what I do know: he batted .095/.136/.143 and went hitless in the series against the Indians. He’s in the worst slump of his career. His name doesn’t belong down here and you shouldn’t expect to see his name here again. He is Miguel Cabrera, one of the best hitters in the game today. He is too talented to keep hitting this poorly.
