If you missed Thursday afternoon’s game between the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers, Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant mildly sprained his ankle running the bases and will undergo an MRI.

“You saw him jog off the field when I pulled him off,” Maddon said of Bryant, who was lifted after four innings in the Cubs’ 7-2 win over the Brewers. “I wanted to get him when he went back on [for the fourth], but I got him too late. I saw him jog back in. I don’t want to create conjecture. Let’s just see what happens and look at the tests.”

The National League rookie of the year in 2015 was also hit by a pitch on his left elbow in the first inning, and on his left leg in the fourth inning before being replaced by Javier Baez.

The Cubs are already without Kyle Schwarber for the season after tearing two knee ligaments and Miguel Montero was placed on the disabled before the game with a stiff lower back.

Bryant is hitting .289 with four home runs and 15 runs batted in so far this season.
