Offense: D-

For the Yankees to have the worst offense in baseball though April is appalling. Some of their biggest bats have been dormant so far, and their biggest offseason acquisition Starlin Castro is the only guy producing consistently. Their 74 runs and 70 RBIs ranked last in MLB in April, 170 hits ranked 28th, .233 batting average ranked 22nd, and 263 total bases ranked 29th.

The Yankees can hit the ball, but not for extra bases or when runners are on base. It also hurts when Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner, the top-of-the-lineup guys, are hitting a combined .245. It’s hard to score runs with no one on base and the leadoff guy getting out more than usual. The only reason the Yankees offensive grade isn’t an F is because they were only shut out twice in their 22 games played in April.
