The bullpen has been the only part of the New York Yankees 2016 team that can be considered “good,” and that is saying something with all the talent on the roster. The bullpen ranks fifth in strikeouts in the major leagues and 14th in batting average against. Their 4.13 ERA reflects a bad outing by Dellin Betances but still ranks 20th-best in baseball.
Andrew Miller has been unhittable in April, posting a 0.00 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched. The bullpen has also not blown a save in April, going 6-for-6, with Miller getting five and Ivan Nova collecting the other save.
While some of these numbers seem a bit high, it is a small sample size of April, and they will be getting Aroldis Chapman back from suspension at the end of May. The Yankees bullpen will rebound and remain one of the game’s best.
