Maikel Franco hasn’t been horrible thus far, but certainly more needs to be coming from the top young third baseman. The Phillies have been baseball’s biggest surprise to this point, largely in part to the dominance of their pitching staff and bullpen, but if they want to keep this surprise of a season going, they are going to need some offense.

Odubel Herrera has hit well to start the season, but the power bats of Franco, and veteran Ryan Howard haven’t been a big enough factor. The offense will get a boost when Aaron Altherr returns, but that still is not for a few months. In the meantime, Franco needs to pick up the slack and try and replicate what he started last season.
