The OBP is good, the power numbers are solid, but the average and the amount of strikeouts just are not characteristic of Andrew McCutchen. The Pirates do not have a lot of disappointing players and Cutch is not really a total disappointment. It is just that baseball fans have become so accustomed to McCutchen hitting right around .300 every year, and certainly not having more strikeouts than hits.

Realistically though, the Florida native is a superstar and the chances of him continuing to slump throughout the year are so marginally low that there is little need for concern.
