The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have purchased the contract of reliever David Carpenter from the Atlantic League’s Bridgeport Bluefish of the Independent League, according to the official twitter account of the Bluefish.
Carpenter will report to the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees. He appeared in eight games this season for the Bluefish and posted a 2.25 ERA with ten strikeouts in eight innings while converting two saves.
Last season, Carpenter pitched thirty games between the Nationals and Yankees with a 4.32 ERA. Throughout his career, he also pitched for the Astros, Blue Jays, and Braves with an 11-11 record and 3.66 ERA in 211 1/3 innings.
With closer Huston Street on the 15-day disabled list due to an oblique strain and a depleted bullpen, the Angels could call up Carpenter sooner than you think.
