Minnesota Twins
Record: 2-3
Weekly Recap:
The Twins lost two games at Camden Yards to open the week. They then dropped the opening game of a three-game series against the Indians but their fortunes seemed to turn around as they won the last two giving them the series win. The Twins have been nothing short of a disappointment so far this season, and if they want to have any hope of getting back into the thick of things in the AL Central, they need to build off their series win against the Indians to mount what would be one of the greatest comebacks in baseball.
Stud of the Week: Tyler Duffey
Duffey didn’t start the season in the majors but was able to find his way into the majors anyway due to injuries to the starting pitching. He has made the most of it and continued to shine as he pitched 7.0 scoreless innings against the Indians on Sunday, surrendering only six hits and one walk and striking out six. He made the pitches he needed to when he found himself in a jam and breathed some life into what was practically a corpse-like Twins team to give them some breathing room and perhaps some much-needed confidence.
Dud of the Week: Brian Dozier
It seems as if his alarm clock still hasn’t gone off. He has struggled to hit at the top and is getting moved down deeper and deeper into the Twins lineup and may eventually find himself hitting at the nine-hole of the lineup if he can’t start to find his rhythm. He hit only .200/.294/.200 and failed to record an extra-base hit for the week. He continues to appear to be in a deep slumber as his bat remains frigid.
