Chicago White Sox

Record: 1-6

Weekly Recap:

The White Sox are fading fast. After winning their first game this week against the division rival Indians, they proceeded to drop the next three games. They then went to Kauffman Stadium to face the Royals and got swept. They’ve lost six straight games and are no longer the top dogs in the AL Central. The White Sox have been connected in trade talks with the San Diego Padres about acquiring righty James Shields, but so far no deal has been made.

Stud of the Week: Austin Jackson

Mr. Jackson seems to finally have gotten his notice and arrived to the show. It seemed like he was sleepwalking the at the beginning of the season as he was offering nothing at the plate, but now is finally beginning to pick it up. He hit .400/.381/.450 for the week and has been moved to the top of the lineup now that he is finally getting on base. With the White Sox sliding, having Jackson heat up at the plate is something to be hopeful about.

Dud of the Week: David Robertson

He recorded a save against the Indians in the first game they played this week. It was a tightrope walk as he bent and almost broke. In his second appearance of the week, Roberston broke badly. The White Sox had a six-run lead in the bottom of the ninth against Kansas City on Saturday. Robertson came in to shut the door and secure the victory. He couldn’t even make it through the inning as he was hit hard for four hits, two walks and six earned runs. He’s the best reliever in the White Sox bullpen but faltered badly. If he falls down, the White Sox bullpen is in huge trouble.
