Kansas City Royals
Record: 5-1
Weekly Recap:
The Royals are starting to gain some steam. They took two out of three against the Twins then swept the White Sox including an incredible comeback in the ninth inning on Saturday where they score seven runs to walk off. Their success came with a price as they lost Mike Moustakas for the season due to a torn ACL and are without Alex Gordon for several weeks due to a hand fracture.
Stud of the Week: Eric Hosmer
Hosmer has taken control of the ship and has the Royals operating at full speed. He hit .409/.409/.682 with one homer and nine RBIs on the week. He is the most valuable player on the Royals right now and as long as he swings a hot bat, the Royals will always be in a great position to win the game.
Dud of the Week: Yordano Ventura
The good news is he didn’t walk anyone this week. The bad news is that was the only good thing about his last start. He went seven innings but was tagged for nine hits, seven runs, six earned runs and two home runs. He was working so hard not to walk batters that he left the ball up in the zone for the White Sox to take him deep on Saturday. He was fortunate to be bailed out by the miracle comeback on Saturday but still, it was a bad start with very few positives to take away.
