Detroit Tigers
Record: 3-4
Weekly Recap:
The Tigers are starting to come alive. Despite the rocky start they endured in the beginning of the season, they have been playing better baseball as of late. They did lose two out of three to the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium and also dropped a make-up game of a rainout game against the New York Yankees but made up for it when the swept the White Sox at home. They still face some questions with their rotation, but the Tigers are not going away and are still right in the thick of it.
Stud of the Week: Victor Martinez
He just can’t help himself can he? Martinez is continuing to dominate at the plate as he hit .400/.423/.720 with two home runs and three RBIs. He’s not just hitting the ball for power, he’s hitting the ball for average as he is able to use all parts of the field to get base hits. No disrespect intended to Miguel Cabrera, but right now Martinez is the Tigers’ best hitter in 2016.
Dud of the Week: Anibal Sanchez
Nothing is going right for this guy. His last start was a complete disaster as he only last three innings and coughed up eight hits, two walks, three home runs and six earned runs against the lowly Angels who are apparently the Tigers’ kryptonite. He is getting worse and could very well lose his spot in the rotation as things continue to decline for him.
