Kansas City Royals
Record: 3-4
Weekly Recap:
The Royals started the week off in a good position as they resumed their place at the top of the standings in the division. They swept the Tampa Bay Rays at home then headed to Cleveland to defend their position as the leaders of the AL Central. They looked to be well on their way to a fourth win of the week as they held a late lead over the Indians. All of a sudden the Indians jumped up and stunned them as they were able to get a walk-off win against the Royals bullpen in the first game of the series. From then on the tide turned as Cleveland seemed to outplay the Royals at every facet of the game. The Royals lost their place as the leaders of the division and are now looking up at Cleveland.
Stud of the Week: Eric Hosmer
Hosmer continued to rake this week despite the Royals lackluster performance. He hit .300/.417/.350 with one home runs and five RBIs. He is quietly becoming one of the game’s best hitters as he is showing off an excellent approach at the plate by just staying on the ball and putting it in play. With so many of the Royals hitters injured, Hosmer staying hot at the plate is paramount for their success.
Dud of the Week: Chris Young
The tall righty started things off on a positive as he came out of the bullpen and tossed three scoreless innings against the Rays. He then made a start against the Indians and ended up tossing a clunker. He started off okay but the Indians zeroed in on his pitches and launched four home runs off him before driving him out of the game after only 4.2 innings of work where he surrendered six hits, four home runs, one walk and five earned runs.
