Sources: Giants agree to deal with Chris Denorfia, pending physical

The San Francisco Giants have agreed to a deal with outfielder Chris Denorfia, pending physical, league sources said.

With Hunter Pence out due to a serious hamstring injury, the Giants are adding depth to the outfield, and they likely aren’t done yet. Expect another signing in the near future.

Denorfia, 35, has been in the big leagues for 10 seasons and he has spent time with the San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs and Seattle Mariners.

In those 10 seasons, he has hit .272 with 41 home runs and 196 RBI.

Most recently with the Cubs in 2015, he played in 103 games, hitting .269 with three home runs and 18 RBI.

This is an excellent signing by the Giants. A plus defensive outfielder on either corner who can play Center in a pinch.
Decent bat, good pinch hitter & is quality depth similar to Blanco.
