With the Baseball Hall of Fame induction this weekend, it is easy for baseball fans to associate with Ken Griffey Jr. and Mike Piazza with the 1990s. But as both players began their career in that decade, there was little chance Piazza would ever find a plaque with his name on it in Cooperstown. Only drafted due to a family connection with Tom Lasorda, Piazza was not only a long shot for the Hall of Fame, but just making a major-league roster.
