As the August 1 non-waiver trade deadline approaches, it’ll be interesting to see what approach that General Manager Matt Klentak and company take in regards to making deals. I’ve stated a few times that the Phillies are not obligated to label themselves as buyers or sellers, unlike previous years. Would it be in the team’s best interest to sell some veteran contracts? This writer believes that it is. Unfortunately, my opinion doesn’t matter when it comes to Matt Klentak, and he’s shown a willingness to do whatever he feels is best for the franchise. I fully expect him to do just that, in one way or another.
