The Tigers began last week by traveling to Cleveland and continuing their struggles against the Indians, as they lost two out of three. They then played a four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre, and ended up losing three out of four to the mighty Jays. They then played against AL Central foe Kansas City at Comerica Park to start the second half, and were able to win two out of three against the scuffling Royals.

The young third baseman is continuing to have a breakout season. He’s finally seemed to let go of the pressure placed upon him when he first took over the hot corner and is hitting like he’s finally in a comfortable place, both physically and mentally. That’s a huge plus for the Tigers, who are still fighting for a playoff spot with their mighty offense.
Dud of the Week: Bruce Rondon
3 G, 1-1, 2.0 IP, 3 H, 3 R/3 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO, 2 HR, 9.00 ERA
So far, the results have been mixed for the flame-throwing right-hander. He throws a mean fastball and has some nice off-speed stuff but has left his fastball out over the plate several times in the past few outings, and has given up go-ahead home runs to cost the Tigers the lead. He needs to command his fastball better, because batters are sure as hell not going to miss a fastball right over the heart of the plate.
