Locked On Podcast Network Launches Lineup of Daily MLB Podcasts

The Locked On Podcast Network, the number one daily local sports podcast network in the country with 450 episodes per week covering each NBA and NFL team, is expanding its coverage to Major League Baseball in conjunction with this week’s Opening Day. On Monday, March 25, LOPN’s MLB channel officially launched with coverage of 19 MLB teams, with plans to cover all 30 teams in the coming weeks.

Baseball Essential’s Jeff Snider will co-host the Locked On Dodgers podcast on the network along with Vince Samperio of Chavez Ravine Fiends. Snider and Samperio have hosted the weekly Scully Avenue Podcast for the past three years and are transitioning that into the daily Dodgers show.

“The daily schedule of games for all MLB teams aligns perfectly with the daily rhythm of the Locked On podcast format,” said LOPN founder and CEO David Locke, the radio voice of the NBA’s Utah Jazz. “For baseball, our local shows will follow an even faster-paced 15-minute format, giving avid fans daily coverage that matches the rapid MLB news and game cycle.”

Locked On’s baseball podcasts will not simply be news shows, but instead will provide analysis and commentary on the daily schedule of each MLB team. Listeners will surely be able to tell if their favorite team won the previous night’s game, but it won’t be a “game recap” type of show.

Each individual podcast will have its episodes available first thing in the morning, making it easy for fans to catch up on their team in 15-20 minutes during their morning commutes. This formula has worked well for LOPN in the past, with five million monthly downloads of its episodes. With baseball, Locke understands that many fans love their team but don’t have three hours daily to devote to watching each game. The Locked On baseball podcasts can supplement those fans’ enjoyment, providing a catch-up when they’re unable to watch and proving new insight when they are.

While many podcast networks are funded via subscriptions or donations, the Locked On Podcast Network is funded the old-fashioned way: advertisements. They think a few ads are a small price to pay for daily content about local teams, and the network works hard to acquire advertising that will be relevant and interesting to its listeners.
